It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over. But school is right around the corner and at NWG we have many returning students as well. Right now is a good time to sign up for instrument and vocal lessons since there are immediate openings. During the school year we get pretty booked up but you can reserve your regular time slot by signing up now.

We have some of the best teachers in Western Washington and we can take from total beginner to wherever it is you want to go. You can check out our teachers by following the link above marked “Our Teachers.”

Last evening Saturday June 26th, family, friends and fans of Becky Fallon’s vocal students packed NWG to see these talented singers perform live on our stage. From live performances backed by acoustic guitar and ukelele to covers of Motown and classics such as American Pie, the singers demonstrated their singing skills and stage confidence in this fun live show. Watch for our next one in the coming months and come out and support all this budding talent!

These students of Colt Valenti performed live in concert on Saturday June 19th on our stage. From solo classical pieces to duo’s showing off their fiery rock licks, over ten students demonstrated their guitar playing prowess.

The new Northwest Guitars

Welcome to our new store location. We moved a couple of doors down in the same building as our old store. Several customers have asked why but once you visit the new store you’ll see. We have larger lesson rooms, twice the number of acoustic guitars, much more accessories and the same great service. The Red Couch and stage is still here and we have a busy summer schedule of events planned. Come in and see us!

You get what you pay for!

With a soft economy, many people are looking to save money. We shop for deals and often settle for the cheaper choice. However when it comes to guitars, you usually get what you pay for! A cheaper price means a cheaper guitar. When you are a beginning guitar player, a cheap guitar will make learning more difficult. The experience is unpleasant and often causes the beginner to quit before he or she really gets started.

Here are two points to keep in mind when shopping for a beginning guitar. First if you can hear and feel the difference between the cheapest guitar and the next price level up, then pay a little more and get the better guitar. You won’t regret it. Second purchase a guitar that has been set up by a professional luthier (each and every guitar we sell has been custom “set up” in our shop). A luthier will charge between $50 and $75 (we include it for FREE) but a set up makes all the difference when it comes to ease of playing.

Remember anything worth doing is worth doing well. Don’t sell yourself short. Buy the best instrument you can afford and give yourself the best chance for success!

NWG supports All Pro Dads

On Thursday December 3rd, Northwest Guitars opened it’s doors once again to the Greater Seattle All Pro Dads. The Indianapolis Colts former coach Tony Dungy is the official spokesman for this worthy organization which provides opportunities for fathers and their children to learn, have fun and grow closer through presentations and programs like the one at NWG. Father and son, Kevin and Vinnie Fallon, talked about music as a hobby and career and performed live on our stage. As an active member of our Eastside community, Northwest Guitars is proud to support this worthwhile organization.
